Notes
The American University men's basketball team will hit the road
for the first time in two weeks on Saturday, November 28, when they
face the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Md.
Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m. The game will be the first meeting
between the Eagles and Hawks.
American lost to Manhattan on Wednesday inside of Bender Arena to
fall to 0-6 on the year. The Eagles held a 29-27 advantage over the
Jaspers at halftime but a 12-1 Manhattan run to open the second
frame put American behind for good. The Eagles fought back from a
10-point deficit to cut the lead to four, 56-52, with just over
four minutes to play before a 9-2 Manhattan spurt put the lead out
of reach.
Freshman Mike Bersch recorded a season-high 16 points off the bench
to lead the Eagles, connecting on four three-pointers and grabbing
a season-best seven rebounds. Sophomore Riley Grafft recorded his
first career double-double with 15 points and a career-high 12
rebounds.
Sophomore Stephen Lumpkins leads the Eagles in both scoring and
rebounding this season, averaging 14.0 ppg and 8.3 rpg. Grafft has
chipped in 9.7 ppg and 5.8 rpg while Bersch has added 9.6 ppg and
2.4 rpg.
