The American University men's basketball team will close
out its current five-game homestand this evening against Manhattan
in Bender Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The Eagles and
Jaspers have met six times in their all-time series with Manhattan
holding a 4-2 advantage. American, however, defeated Manhattan on
their home court last season, 60-48.
American is off to an 0-5 start this year after falling to
Fairfield on Monday night, 72-56. The Eagles held a 29-27 lead
entering the half but a 17-of-27 shooting performance by the Stags
in the second half helped them to overcome the deficit.
Sophomore Stephen Lumpkins and junior Nick Hendra led the Eagles
with 14 points each in the loss. Lumpkins' nine rebounds put
him one short of recording his second double-double of the season.
Hendra added seven boards, two assists and one steal.
