Isaacs, Pelletier Lead Swimming and Diving at Patriot Invitational

The American University swimming and diving teams competed in the Patriot Invitational over the weekend, which was hosted by George Mason in Fairfax, Va. The women's squad placed seventh in the competition, while the men's squad finished eighth.

The women's team was led by junior Dory Isaacs, who placed second in two different events. In the 200 IM, Isaacs was the runner-up with a time of 2:07.77. She recorded the top time in the preliminary round (2:06.66). Additionally, in the 200 breast, Isaacs finished second overall in 2:23.01. Classmate Eleanor Clay finished sixth in the race with a time of 2:26.36.

Isaacs also won the "B" Final in the 50 free in 24.19 to place ninth, although her final round swim was the sixth-best overall time. In that race, sophomore Leah Breen finished two spots behind Isaacs to place 11th overall (24.63). Additionally, Isaacs finished in 10th place in the 100 fly with a time of 58.29.

Sophomore Alexandra Wessel and Clay both finished in 10th place in the 200 free and 100 back, respectively. Wessel completed her swim in 1:54.53, while Clay's time was 1:07.81.

On the men's side, the Eagles were led by senior Matt Pelletier with a third-place finish in the 100 back (51.63). He also placed eighth and 10th in the 100 fly (51.63) and 50 free (21.47), respectively. Additionally, freshman Ming Ong placed sixth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:11.44.

In the diving competition, American was led by junior Kelsey Monarch, who finished 12th in the 1-meter competition (175.55 points) and 13th in the 3-meter event (153.30). The men's team was paced by freshman Brian McCallister's 12th-place finish in the 3-meter dive (164.80).

In the final team results, AU's women's squad finished seventh overall with 181 total points, while the men's squad earned an eighth place result with 120 points. UMBC took the team titles in both the men's and women's competition.

The Eagles will return to the pool at the University of Virginia Invitational in Charlottesville, Va., from December 3-5.
