WASHINGTON - The American University men's and women's indoor track teams captured three championships on Sunday, the final day of competition at the 2007-08 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships at Bucknell's Gerhard Fieldhouse. Junior Carlos Jamieson captured his second title in as many days with a win in the men's 3000 meter run while senior Cathleen Ford won her first career PL Championship in the women's 3000 meter. The men's distance medley relay team also won a title on Sunday, bringing AU's championship total for the weekend to four.

Ford shattered her season best and personal record in the 3000 meter run on Sunday en route to AU's first championship of the day and second individual championship of the meet. Ford won the event in a time of 10:01.34, more than five seconds better than Colgate's Stacey Marion who took second in 10:06.90. Ford's season-best and seed time coming into the race was 10:16.56 and her previous personal record stood at 10:06.07. With the win, Ford moves from fourth to third on AU's all-time list.

Jamieson won his second career PL Championship on Sunday with a victory in the men's 3000 meter run. Jamieson blew away his seed time of 8:22.62 and finished in personal record time of 8:16.68. Jamieson's closest competitor, John Olson of Navy, finished more than two seconds behind him with an 8:19.02. The championship time puts Jamieson at seventh on AU's top-10.

Jamieson also won the 5000 meter run championship on Saturday, posting a season best time of 14:29.82.

The men's distance medley relay team won AU's third championship of the day and fourth of the competition, finishing more than ten seconds better than the second place team from Colgate with a time of 10:00.23. Conor Sullivan, Dan King, Brian McCabe and Steve Hallinan combined for the winning time which puts them at fifth on the school's top-10 list.

In the men's mile, seniors Brendan Fennell and Hallinan combined for second and fourth-place finishes, respectively. Fennell entered the race as the defending champion and posted a season-best time of 4:12.79. Hallinan, who finished second to Fennell at last year's championships, placed fourth with a 4:13.18. The two Eagles finished behind Lyle Tolli of Colgate who won the event in a time of 4:12.21.

The AU men's team also scored in two other events on Sunday with Brian McCabe taking fourth in the 1000 meter run and Fennell taking fourth in the 3000. McCabe finished the 1000 meter course in 2:30.55, just a half second behind the events winner, Tolli, who finished in 2:30.05. McCabe's time would put him at 10th on AU's all-time list but he is currently the school record holder with a personal record of 2:24.96

Fennell's fourth-place time of 8:20.43 in the 3000 meter was more than seven seconds faster than his seed time and season best of 8:27.82. Fennell took fourth to teammate Jamieson, the event's new champion.
