Indoor Track Teams Compete at Maryland Invitational, Combine for Three All-Time Top-10s

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The American University men's and women's indoor track teams competed at the Maryland Invitational at the PGSL Center in Landover, Md., on Saturday, combining for three entries into AU's all-time top-10 lists and two wins.

Sophomore 200/400m specialist Dan King ran the fifth-fastest indoor 200m in school history. His time of 24.09 bested Gideon French's 24.35 set on Jan. 29, 2005.

Meanwhile, the women's squad put two entries in the AU record books. Freshman Gena Turner made her mark on the AU record books in the 200m, running a 29.45, good for eighth all-time at AU. In the 400m, sophomore Janis Irish nabbed ninth all-time at AU with a 1:07.23.

Other meet highlights for the Eagles included wins for both Carlos Jamieson in the mile (4:10.77) and freshman Colin Eustis in the 3000m (8:46.15). Jamieson led a 1,3,6 finish for the Eagles, with Brian McCabe nabbing the 3rd place finish (4:15.93) and Brendan Fennell in sixth (4:20.56).

Senior distance specialist Cathleen Ford had the top finish for the women with her seventh-place result in the mile (5:11.76), just missing her personal best of 5:11.44. She currently sits in fifth on AU's all-time top-10 chart in the mile.

The Eagles compete next at the GMU Patriot Games in Fairfax, Va., next Saturday, January 26.
