WASHINGTON - Senior Dustin Emrani raced away from the field to win the NCAA East Regional 800m title Saturday night, shattering his own school record in the process and securing his second berth to the NCAA Championships.

Emrani outran a very competitive field to win the 800m title in 1:48.06. The AU senior eclipsed his own personal best by almost a second for the win - maintaining his undefeated streak this outdoor season. Emrani will make his second trip to the NCAA Championships in two weeks.

Emrani joins Sean Duffy (AU '05) as the only Eagles to win East Region individual titles. Duffy accomplished the feat in the spring of 2004 and the next year went on to finish third in the 1500m at the NCAA Championships, setting a school record.

Check back with the AUEagles.com next week for an interview with Emrani as the senior prepares for the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, Calif. In two weeks.
