AU Women's Indoor Track Falls to 0-2 in Season Debut Tuesday Night

WASHINGTON - The American University women's indoor track team opened its schedule Tuesday night at the U.S. Naval academy against Navy and Mount St. Mary's. Cathleen Ford and Greta Wicklund finished one-two in the 3,000 meter run to highlight AU's performance.

The Eagles (0-2) went 0-2 in the team scoring. The Midshipmen defeated American, 264-66, and MSM bested the Eagles, 150-78.

Ford cruised to the finish line of the 3,000 meter run in a time of 10:17.36, a full 13 seconds faster than the second-place finisher, Wicklund, who finished in 10:30.70. Mary Jane Egan took third in the 800 meter run with a finishing time of 2:27.79 and two Eagles, Madeline Lynch and Caitlin Rosser, had fifth-place showings in the one mile run (6:21.99) and 55 meter hurdles (10.63), respectively.

AU's men's indoor track team will make its debut tomorrow, Dec. 5, when it too visits the U.S. Naval Academy for a meet scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
