American Defeats Rider by Pair of Goals

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior Melissa Snyder (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) scored two goals in the second half to lead the Eagles to a 3-1 victory over Rider. Snyder's first goal of the game was unassisted and gave AU the lead for good. The Eagles are now 2-1. Snyder's second goal of the game came after an initial shot by Maureen Daniel (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) bounced off of the goalie. Freshman Tiffany Carter (Yardley, Pa./The Hun School) controlled the rebound and fed Snyder for the final goal of the game. Daniel had scored the first goal of the game at the 29:29 mark. She took a pass from Shannon Goans (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) and drilled it just left of the goalie. It was the only score of the first half. Senior goalie Laura Miller (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) picked up 17 saves in the match, including 14 in the second half. Rider's Krysta Bearish notched nine for the game.. American is now 2-1-0 and will next play host to Pacific on Friday, September 12 at 6:00 p.m. Game Summary
