American Shuts Out Pacific

September 12, 2003

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior Laura Miller (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) pitched her second shutout this season and in the process collected the eighth shutout of her career as she led the Eagles to a 1-0 victory over Pacific. The game was played in a downpour from start to finish. Miller faced just five shots, but Pacific put on plenty of pressure late. Miller received all the offensive support she would need early in the first half (16:47) when Melissa Snyder (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) collected a pass from Maureen Daniel (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and slammed it past Pacific goalie Gina Sadler. Sadler finished with six saves in 60 minutes of action. Snyder was especially active on the offensive end, taking five shots. Freshman Camila Infante (Santiago, Chile/Santiago College) made her debut as an Eagle, and not only played, but started. She had a pair of shots on goal and caused plenty of problems for Pacific's defense. The Eagles dominated the Tigers, outshooting them 17 to 5 and collecting 11 penalty corners compared to just five for Pacific. American is now 3-1-0 and will next play host to Rutgers on Sunday, September 14 at 12:00 p.m. noon. Game Summary
