HAMILTON N.Y. - Senior goalkeeper Laura Miller (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) picked up her ninth shutout of the season as the Eagles defeated the Colgate Raiders 4-0. The Eagles are now 13-2 overall, and 5-0 in the Patriot League. The Eagles played a strong first half, taking 10 shots on Colgate, and only allowing the Raiders five shots on goal. The scoring began for the Eagles as sophomore Maureen Daniel (Clifton Park, Md./Shenendehowa) was able to put the ball in the cage off a penalty corner with the help of teammates Melissa Snyder (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) and Heidi Hershberger (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown). The second half began with the Eagles pushing their lead to two just three minutes into the half as freshman Camila Infante (Santiago, Chile/Santiago College) got her fifth goal of the season off a penalty corner. Maranzano picked up her second assist of the game. As the half continued, the intensity picked up as the Eagles defense was challenged by the Raiders eight minutes into the half. Off a penalty corner, sophomore defender Emily Berlin (Greenfield, Mass./Greenfield) made a beautiful defensive save to keep the ball out of the cage. With less than 15 minutes left to play in the game, the Eagles were able to score again when Hershberger (Davis, Calif./Davis) received a pass from fellow freshman Kaitlin DeTroia (North Caldwell, N.J/West Essex Regioal) to raise the score to 3-0. Five minutes later, junior Javiera Villagra (Santiago, Chile/Santiago College) scored again to solidify the win for the Eagles.
