LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) - Steven Miles hit two free throws with 58 seconds left to force overtime and then made two 3-pointers in the extra period Tuesday night, leading American to a 72-67 victory against Liberty.
The Eagles (1-3) trailed by 14 with about 10 minutes left in regulation, but made five 3-point shots in the last nine minutes before Miles' free throws created a tie at 59-all.
Miles led the Eagles with 21 points, and Glenn Stokes had 10, including four free throws in the overtime.
Jeremy Monceaux led the Flames (2-2) with 18 points and Vincent Okotie had 15.
