BETHLEHEM, Pa. –– First year American University cross country athlete Anna Villavicencio has been named the Patriot League's Rookie of the Week after a tenacious effort against top teams this past weekend at Penn State's Spike Shoe Invitational.
 
For the second time in as many weeks, Villavicencio paced the entire AU women's squad, including the reigning PL XC Rookie of the Year, Shealyn Brochu, while racing to a 33rd place finish at the Spiked Shoe Invite. Competing against elite teams like Syracuse, Penn State, and Pitt, Villavicencio was–again–over 30 seconds faster to the finish than her next closest teammate.
 
The Eagles are starting their first of two bye-weeks and will compete next on Friday, Oct. 3 at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa.
