First-Year Head Coach Phil Casella Announces 2026 Women's Soccer Schedule

WASHINGTON – Eight home contests highlight the 2026 schedule for American University women's soccer, as announced by first-year head coach Phil Casella. The Eagles will play two exhibitions and three regular-season games away from home before starting their Reeves Field slate with a three-game homestand on Sunday, August 23 against Longwood.

AU will open the season at La Salle on August 13, and will travel to both UMBC (Aug. 16) and Richmond (Aug. 20) before the home opener on the 23rd.

Now in its second season since a full renovation, Reeves Field will be the site of four non-conference and four Patriot League games for American. The completed Alan and Amy Meltzer Center for Athletic Performance serves as the backdrop to the field at its north end, offering an improved experience for fans with concessions and restroom facilities.

Seven out of eight home games will be played at 1 p.m., with three Saturday games and three Sunday games among those home dates.

The Eagles will celebrate Alumni Day on Saturday, Sept. 26 when they play Lafayette at 1 p.m. The day will begin with a meet and greet welcome breakfast, followed by a tour of the Meltzer Center.

"This schedule will test us in a lot of important ways," said Casella. "We'll face strong opponents both in and out of conference, and I'm excited for our players to compete in front of our fans at Reeves Field. There's a lot of energy around the program right now, and we're looking forward to getting started."

Non-Conference Notes
  • Eight non-conference games will help the Eagles prepare for Patriot League play.
  • The road slate includes contests at La Salle (Aug. 13), UMBC (Aug. 16), Richmond (Aug. 20), and nearby George Washington (Sept. 10).
  • AU will host Longwood on Aug. 23, and will play two more home games back-to-back against UNC Greensboro on Sept. 3 and Elon on Sept. 6 at 11 a.m.
  • The Lancers offer a chance for strong competition as the home opener for the Eagles, as Longwood finished the 2025 season at 9-7-3 overall and with a 5-3 mark in the Big South Conference.
  • NCAA Tournament participant Elon will visit American on Sept. 6 after going 11-3-7 a year ago and making a strong run through the Coastal Athletic Association Tournament as the No. 3 seed in the South Division, ultimately defeating No. 2 seed Stony Brook on penalty kicks in the championship.
  • American will wrap up the out-of-league slate at home against William & Mary on Sept. 13.
Patriot League Play
  • The conference slate begins at the home of 2025 Patriot League champion Army on Sept. 19, a team the Eagles defeated in dramatic fashion at home during last year's regular season.
  • AU will host Lafayette in its Patriot League home opener on Saturday, Sept. 26, before playing back-to-back road games at Loyola Maryland (Sept. 30) and Lehigh (Oct. 4).
  • Home contests against Colgate (Oct. 10) and last year's regular-season champion Boston University (Oct. 17) are followed by road games at Navy (Oct. 23) and Holy Cross (Nov. 1).
  • The Eagles will host Bucknell in their regular season finale on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
