WASHINGTON - First-year head coach
Phil Casella has announced a Bella-Bella leadership team for American University women's soccer's 2026 season, as seniors
Bella Miller and
Bella Vozar will serve as captains for the Eagles.
"I want to congratulate Bella and Bella on being named captains of the 2026 American women's soccer team," said Casella. "When I think of captains, I think of leaders. These two truly lead with their voice but also lead by example on the field with their presence, work ethic, and their ability to compete and wanting to win every day. To go along with their abilities and presence on the field, they are amazing individuals in the classroom. They are teammates who can be trusted, they are truly the face of this program, and they are a huge part of directing this group in the new direction women's soccer is headed."
Miller returned from injury for the final eight games of the 2025 season, inspiring teammates with her dedication to getting back on the field. She has made 37 appearances over three seasons, and scored the Eagles' first goal in a 2-1 win at Bucknell to close out the season last October.
Vozar, named a co-captain for a second year in a row, was one of just two players to start in all 17 games last year. She scored her first collegiate goal in thrilling fashion in a 2-1 win over eventual Patriot League champion Army on Sept. 20, getting the game-winner in the 90th minute. Vozar has started in all but one game in her three seasons at American, and is a defender with three goals, one assist, and one Patriot League weekly honor.
