Reagan Murdoch for the Eagles. One non-conference game remains for AU at Pitt on March 11 before the Eagles open Patriot League play at home against Colgate on March 14.
NotableÂ
- Murdoch, who reached 100 career goals in the Eagles' last game, added four more goals to her career total which now stands at 104.
- After scoring once in each of the first two quarters, Murdoch completed the hat trick early in the fourth before adding one more.
- Sophomore Aine Powers scored the first goal of her career with 2:23 remaining in the fourth quarter.
- Leading the defensive effort for AU was sophomore Izzy Masengarb with a team-high four draw controls, a team-high three caused turnovers, and two ground balls.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Brooke Hill made 13 saves for the Eagles, while UMBC keeper Emine Luznar made 11 saves while allowing only five goals.
How it Happened
- Murdoch's first goal with 6:28 remaining in the first quarter put AU within one at 2-1, but the Retrievers rattled off three more by the end of the period.
- The second goal for Murdoch started AU off on the right foot in the first minute of the second quarter, but once again UMBC followed with a run, this time scoring five unanswered in the period and continuing with three more after halftime for an 8-0 run overall.
- After a scoreless third period, the Eagles tallied three goals in the fourth. Murdoch scored her last with six minutes to go, and Powers got on the board for the final goal of the game with 2:23 to go.
- UMBC's Emily Knapp was a force all around, scoring four goals on nine total shots, posting two assists, and leading all players with five draw controls.
- Knapp completed a hat trick in just the first quarter, and added her fourth goal with nine seconds left in the second.
