WASHINGTON - For the 62nd semester in a row, both the men's and women's swimming & diving programs at American University have been honored as College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams. It has now been 26 full years in which both teams have met the qualifications to be honored.
The CSCAA announced the selection of 709 teams from 414 institutions for the Scholar All-America Team for the fall 2025 semester. These teams, comprising 16,421 student-athletes, were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements. To earn this prestigious recognition, teams were required to achieve a grade point average (GPA) above 3.0 during the Fall 2025 semester.
On the women's side, American achieved an impressive GPA of 3.76 for the semester, while the men's team posted a fall GPA of 3.49. Both teams placed second among men's and women's teams in the department.
Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA, praised the honorees, "The academic commitment demonstrated by these teams is exceptional. These student-athletes continue to set a standard for excellence by succeeding at the highest level both in the pool and in the classroom, and the CSCAA is proud to recognize their dedication and achievement."
