WASHINGTON – For the first time in 13 years, American University women's soccer is playing a nationally ranked team as the Eagles get ready to host No. 10 South Carolina in a 1 p.m. match-up on Thursday, Sept. 4 at Reeves Field. The first 50 students in attendance will get free cupcakes from Wegmans as fans are encouraged to pack the stands for this exciting home match.

Parking on Campus
- As of August 25, parking on campus is being actively monitored seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

How to Get to Reeves Field
- Due to ongoing construction of the adjacent Meltzer Center for Athletic Performance, entrance to Reeves Field for early-season home soccer contests will be at the south stairwell.
- From campus parking locations, please use the pedestrian walkway alongside the Media Production Center and enter by the President Kennedy speech marker and flagpole plaza.
Reeves Field & Greenberg Track Renovation Complete
- Over the past eight months, Reeves Field and Greenberg Track, the home of American University's men's and women's soccer and cross country/track programs, underwent a $1.5 million renovation.
- With a brand-new, bermudagrass surface, state-of-the-art irrigation and drainage systems, along with a new scoreboard, Reeves Field will now cement itself as one of the premier soccer facilities in the Washington, D.C., area. Greenberg Track has a new, high-caliber track surface installed to support the training of AU's varsity running student-athletes and benefit the entire university community.

What to Know About American
- Three one-goal decisions are included in the Eagles 0-4-1 record so far as they continue to seek their first victory.
- Last week, AU lost 2-1 to Howard at home before dropping a 3-1 contest on the road at William & Mary.
- Sophomore Nariah Goldman and graduate student Jennifer McGuire have two goals apiece this season, while five players have one assist each including McGuire.
- Defenders Eliza Fisher (senior) and Natalia Croce (freshman) have both played every minute of all five games so far for AU, with Fisher posting an assist in a 1-1 draw against VCU.
- In her fifth season at the helm in 2024, head coach Marsha Harper led the Eagles to a 6-6-3 overall record—the program's most victories since 2019.
- American went 4-1-1 in non-conference action last season, marking the best record since 1986. That start included a string of three straight victories, including a pair of 2-0 shutouts.
- Fisher and Avery Klingensmith both started in all of the Eagles' games in 2024, while McGuire and senior Phoebe Merrigan made 13 starts each.
What to Know About South Carolina
- South Carolina comes into Thursday's game ranked 10th in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, having gone 5-0-1 so far. The Gamecocks have a top-25 win after a 1-0 decision against #25 Ohio State, and they have only allowed a single goal this season in a 3-1 win vs. USF.
- Leading the way with three goals is sophomore Katie Shea Collins, an All-SEC Second Team selection who scored 13 goals in her rookie campaign. Three others have scored two goals each for South Carolina this season.
- South Carolina went 11-4-7 overall last season and finished fourth in the SEC at 5-2-3. The Gamecocks were runners-up in the SEC Tournament and were ranked 17th at the end of the year after advancing to the NCAA Second Round.
- The Gamecocks graduated All-American and career goals and points leader Cat Barry, who set a school record with 18 goals in 2024.
- Head coach Shelley Smith is in her 25th season with the Gamecocks and boasts a record of 322-140-68.
