Botman, Roffo, and Steinman Honored as PL Players of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In the first week of awards, three Eagles from the American University field hockey team have earned conference recognition for their play over the weekend. Ninthe Botman earned Rookie of the Week, Agustina Roffo was tabbed Midfielder of the Week, and Sarah Steinman was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Botman scored two goals in two games for American across opening weekend. Against N. 5 Duke, Botman was the Eagles' lone goal scorer, her one shot on goal making a difference on the stat line. Against William & Mary, Botman was one of AU's eight goal scorers.

Against William & Mary in the Eagles opening game, Roffo scored three goals from four shots and registered an assist for her highest single-game points total of seven. She was on the field for 49 minutes against No. 5 Duke and was a critical conduit to the Eagles moving the ball into the attacking third throughout the contest.

Steinman was a stalwart on defense for the Eagles all weekend, playing every minute across both games. Against No. 5 Duke, the junior anchored a back line that allowed just seven shots, only four on target. Against William & Mary, Steinman's efforts made it so that the Tribe only got one shot on target and three shots total. She was also the Eagles' inserter for every penalty corner across both games, two of which directly resulted in goals against W&M.

On Sunday, September 7, the Eagles will face off with the Dukes of JMU, at 1 p.m.
