KANSAS CITY, Mo. - As his season and collegiate career concluded in the NCAA First Four, graduate student
Matt Rogers earned his second honor from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) with recognition to the
NABC All-District Second Team. Rogers, the 2025 Patriot League Tournament MVP, was injured in his final game with the Eagles at their NCAA game in Dayton, Ohio.
The NABC introduced a new model for its Division I district alignment this season, with schools arranged by state rather than by conference. The modernizedÂ
NABC Division I district alignment features 10 geographic regions that each encompass multiple states. Every Division I school in each given state belongs to that state's corresponding district.
Rogers finished his career with 1,856 points, ranking sixth all-time at American. He is the only player in program history with over 1,800 points and 700 rebounds, grabbing 730 boards in his time at AU. He was twice named to the All-Patriot League First Team, and was an NABC All-District Third Team selection a year ago.
After scoring 25 points to lead the Eagles to a win in the Patriot League Championship against Navy, Rogers scored seven points in eight minutes in his final game against Mount St. Mary's in the NCAA First Four. He left the court for several minutes early on with an injury, and left for good near the five-minute mark of the first half. Rogers returned on crutches to a standing ovation from the AU fans, and will be remembered as one of the all-time greats.
