Swimmers Advance to Four Finals, Set Multiple Personal Records at 2025 ECAC Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Ten swimmers from American University swimming & diving competed in the 2025 ECAC Championships hosted by Navy from February 28 - March 2. The participating Eagles set multiple personal records over the three-day competition, and advanced to finals in four events.

Notable Results
  • Sophomore Fiona McMahon advanced to the B final of the women's 500 free and then posted a lifetime-best 5:05.71 to take 10th overall and earn seven points for American.
  • One day later, McMahon advanced to her second B final in the women's 200 free, going 1:54.96 for 15th. In the finals, McMahon dropped to a PR of 1:54.03 for 14th overall.
  • In the prelims of the women's 100 free, McMahon posted a PR of 53.39.
  • Freshman Hailey Rees posted a PR in the 200 free prelims of 1:57.98, and another PR of 55.10 in the prelims of the 100 free.
  • In the women's 200 IM, junior Gabby Kaczorowski went 2:07.90 in the prelims to advance to the B final, and then placed 14th overall. Kaczorowski barely missed out on finals in the women's 100 fly, going 57.56 in the prelims for 17th.
  • Laux and Kaczorowski placed 17th and 19th, respectively, in the prelims of the women's 200 back on Sunday.
  • Sophomore Kyler Alcebar posted a PR of 1:57.44 in the prelims of the men's 200 IM, and junior Sam Kohm was close behind in 1:57.95.
  • Senior Lurilla Bereveskos went 24.55 for a personal best in the women's 50 freestyle, with senior Laura Laux right behind in 24.71.
  • Sophomore Marley Reese posted a PR in the women's 100 breaststroke prelims, going 1:07.44 for 20th.
  • In the prelims of the 200 breaststroke, Reese went 2:26.36 for a PR and 14th place, advancing her to the B final.
  • Freshman Olaoluwadeji Jones posted a PR of 2:13.57 in the men's 200 breaststroke prelims.
  • Junior Kai O'Malley was close to the finals in the men's 200 fly, posting a season-best 1:57.92 for 18th in the prelims.
  • The women's 200 free relay team of Kaczorowski, McMahon, Laux, and Bereveskos took eighth in 1:38.86.
  • In the women's 200 medley relay, Laux, Kaczorowski, and Bereveskos teamed up with Reese for an eighth-place finish in 1:48.22.
  • The men's 200 medley relay team of Alcebar, Jones, O'Malley, and Kohm placed 13th in 1:38.28.
