WASHINGTON - For the 60th semester in a row, both the men's and women's swimming & diving programs at American University have been honored as College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams.
The CSCAA announced the selection of 781 teams from 459 institutions for the Scholar All-America Team for the Fall of 2024 semester. These teams, comprising 19,209 student-athletes, were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements. To earn this prestigious recognition, teams were required to achieve a grade point average (GPA) above 3.0 during the Fall 2024 semester. Of the selected teams, an impressive 654 recorded a GPA of 3.30 or higher, qualifying them for the Intercollegiate Coach Association Coalition All-Sport Academic Standings.
On the women's side, American achieved an impressive GPA of 3.74 to rank in the top 20 among all teams in Division I. The men's team posted a fall GPA of 3.42, and both teams led the department in their respective genders.
Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA, commented on the impressive accomplishments, saying, "The commitment to academic excellence demonstrated by these teams is truly admirable. It is inspiring to see student-athletes excel both in the pool and in the classroom. The CSCAA takes great pride in honoring and celebrating their dedication and achievements."
