BETHLEHEM, Pa. - For the fourth year in a row,
Mimi Watts of American University swimming & diving has been named to the Patriot League's Academic All-League Team, adding to her incredible list of accomplishments at AU. Watts is coming off her fourth straight All-Patriot League First Team nod as well.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player within their sport. Freshmen or student-athletes in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
Boasting a 3.85 GPA as a master's degree student in statistics: theory and methods through the College of Arts and Sciences, Watts will earn her third AU degree in 2025. She was a double major in mathematics and economics as an undergrad. Watts is a four-time member of the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America's (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team, and was the first for American to earn that honor since 2010 when she first got it in 2021.
Watts is coming off her final Patriot League Championships in which she earned the sixth, seventh, and eighth gold medals of her legendary career. She has 12 overall medals in four years of competing at the PL Championships, and tied for the highest point-scorer on the women's side last week with 96 points. Watts, who holds nine school records at American, is now tied with Hall of Famer Meghan Thiel for the most gold medals ever earned by an Eagle at the PL Championships. Previously, Watts was a two-time PL Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2023 and 2024.
