Swim & Dive Teams Face Top Patriot League Competition at the Bucknell Winter Invite

LEWISBURG, Pa. - As the season winds down for American University men's and women's swimming & diving, the team took a trip to the Bucknell Winter Invite to tune up for the Patriot League and ECAC Championships at the end of the month. The Eagles also had the chance to swim some events they wouldn't normally swim throughout the season and get used to the water, as Bucknell will host the Patriot League Championships from Feb. 19-22.

Notable Women's Results

The foursome of Mimi Watts, Lian Jeong Engle, Marin Priddy, and Piper Crosby started the meet with a strong, fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:37.21, which ties their previous swim down to the hundredth of a second at the Virginia Military Institute earlier this year.
Along with Priddy's swim in the relay, she placed eighth in the 100 backstroke with a lifetime best of 58.71.
Another member of the team that placed top 16 along with Priddy in the 100 back was senior Amaya Tomma, who finished 12th with a time of 1:00.25.
Senior Katie Yoo placed fourth in the 200 fly with a time of 2:15.12, followed by sophomore Kate Williams in fifth with a time of 2:18.29.
Last week's Gregorio's Student-Athletes of the Week, Watts and Jeong Engle, placed in the top 10 in the 100 freestyle. Watts placed fifth in 52.21, and Jeong Engle finished ninth in 52.83.
The duo also had two stellar second individual swims today, with Watts placing second in the 100 fly in 55.69, and Jeong Engle taking fifth in the 50 freestyle in 24.25.

Notable Men's Results

The men's team had four swimmers place in the top 16 of the 100 breaststroke with Colin Clough placing seventh, Henry Harrison placing 13th, Aidan Delehanty placing 15th, and Lucas Standridge placing 16th.
Ryan Tiffany cracked the top eight in the 200 fly with a time of 1:57.69. Right behind him in 10th was freshman Cole Coffman with a time of 1:58.99.
Freshman diver Gray Miller placed fifth on the 1-meter board with a score of 246.45. It was his second-best collegiate performance, which would have placed him eighth on the AU All-Time Top 16. Along with Miller's success on the 1-meter, he also placed fourth on the 3-meter with a score of 264.60.
Senior Griffin Batt rounded out the top eight on the 1-meter with a score of 225.45.
Sam Kohm had two 12th-place finishes in both the 200 IM and 100 fly.
Freshman Ryan Pursley finished sixth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:58.17.
To round out the meet, Delehanty placed fourth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.74, only four-tenths off his lifetime best, which ties him for seventh on the AU All-Time Top 16 list.

Next Up

The Eagles will take the next few weeks to gear up for another trip to Lewisburg for the Patriot League Championships. This meet is the culmination of all of the team's hard work this season and will take place Feb. 19-22.
