What to Know About American
  • The Eagles were at the Lock Haven Open this past Sunday, where #29 Caleb Campos and Ellis Kirsch won their weight class and nine total AU wrestlers placed.
  • Campos went 3-0 on the day at 184, picking up a pin and two decisions. The redshirt junior is off to a quality start this season, holding a 10-2 record (4-1 in duals).
  • The freshman Kirsch picked up his first tournament victory, defeating Bucknell's Blue Siffler and Bryce Manera via major decision to finish in first place.
  • In their dual schedule, the Eagles are coming off a 20-18 win over George Mason on Nov. 20.
  • Campos headlined the win, coming up with a crucial pin of Jack Kelly with the score tied to give AU a late cushion in the dual.
  • Kaden Milheim and Austin Craft also made vital bonus point contributions as well. AU trailed 11-6 before both wrestlers secured major decisions to put the Eagles in front 14-11.
  • Along with Campos, #25 Raymond Lopez is AU's other ranked wrestler. The 133-pounder is also 10-2 with a 4-1 dual record, recording notable wins against Nebraska's #5 Jacob Van Dee and Purdue's #21 Blake Boarman so far this year.
  • The heavyweight redshirt sophomore Emmanuel Ulrich is filling big shoes this season, stepping into the starting role after Will Jarrell graduated with 70 wins to his name. He's been strong so far for the Eagles, holding an 8-5 record and going 3-2 in duals.
  • Lopez, Campos, and graduate seniors Jack Maida and Maximilian Leete are this year's team captains. Leete and Lopez are serving in the role for the second straight season, while Campos and Maida are first-time captains.
