BETHLEHEM, Pa. -  Three days after being named the Patriot League Midfielder of the Year, Troy Elgersma has been selected as the Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year for his accomplishments both on and off the field. 

Voting for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year and All-Academic Team is done by the league's soccer sports information directors. 

Elgersma becomes the fourth player in program history to receive the award, and the first since 2012. He has a 3.68 cumulative GPA, and will graduate with a degree in business management with a focus in administration in the spring.

The senior captain has consistently matched his All-Patriot League playing ability with exemplary work in the classroom, adding this year's distinction to his plethora of accolades. He is now a two-time selection to the Academic All-Patriot League and CSC Academic All-District teams, and a three-time selection to the Patriot League League Academic Honor Roll. 

The Patriot League regular season champions will host the six-seed Lafayette on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 12pm in the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament at Reeves Field.
