BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Sophie Dufour has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week following her standout weekend for American University volleyball. The freshman outside hitter helped AU to victories over Lehigh and Bucknell, and earns the Rookie of the Week honor for the sixth time this season.
Dufour totaled 30 kills, 15 digs, and three blocks on her way to a 32.5-point two-game slate. She was a crucial part of AU's five-set victory over Lehigh on Friday night, putting down 18 kills and taking on nine digs. She followed that performance with an efficient day on Saturday against Bucknell, hitting .364 with 12 kills and six digs to help the Eagles to a sweep.
Dufour is second in the Patriot League in kills with 287, and is striking it at .283.
The Eagles face an important road trip this weekend, at Army on Friday night and at Colgate on Saturday. AU is tied for first place in the PL with Colgate, with Army trailing right behind in third.
