Women's Soccer to Host Holy Cross in Final Regular Season Home Game

WASHINGTON – In the final home game of the regular season, American University women's soccer will host Holy Cross at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. The Eagles will be celebrating Alumni Day, and will also host a Cornhole Tournament & Fundraiser prior to the start of the contest.

Parking on Campus
  • As of August 25, parking on campus is being actively monitored seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

  • The main entrance to Reeves Field, down the hill from Bender Arena, is now open in front of the Meltzer Center construction.
What to Know About American
  • The Eagles are looking to get back in the win column after three straight losses, and need at least one victory to have a shot at making the six-team Patriot League Tournament.
  • Navy and Boston University both shut out AU in games last week as the offense has struggled to find the back of the net.
  • Five one-goal losses are also included in the Eagles 2-10-3 record so far.
  • Recent goal-scorers for American include senior Morissa Lambert at Colgate, senior Avery Klingensmith at Lafayette, senior Phoebe Merrigan vs. Army, and junior Bella Vozar with a last-minute game-winner vs. Army.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Addison Roemer made a career-high 12 saves in AU's win over Army, just one game after her previous career high of 10 saves in AU's 0-0 draw at George Mason. 
  • Seven different players have scored for AU so far, led by three goals each from Klingensmith and grad student Jennifer McGuire. McGuire has three assists to lead the team in total points with nine, while Klingensmith has two assists for eight points.
What to Know About Holy Cross
  • Holy Cross is 5-7-4 overall and 2-3-2 in the Patriot League, coming off back-to-back 1-0 losses at Boston University and at home against Lehigh.
  • The Crusaders' most recent wins were also back-to-back and by scores of 1-0. In all of September and October, Holy Cross has either lost 1-0, won 1-0, tied 1-1, or tied 0-0.
  • Senior Olivia Perez and fifth-year Sam Halligan lead Holy Cross with three goals each, and seven other players have posted one goal apiece.
  • Junior Karenna Beckstein has a team-high four assists to go with one goal, and Perez has two assists for eight total points to lead the Crusaders.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Aubrey Haesche is 5-5-4 in goal for Holy Cross with 81 saves and a .900 save percentage.
