WASHINGTON - The 2024-25 season for the American University men's and women's swimming and diving programs is almost in full swing already under fourth-year head coach Garland Bartlett, with AU's first meet slated for the end of September. The Eagles will start the season with their annual Potomac Relay Invitational on Friday, Sept. 27, which is the first of four home meets this season.
Home Lineup
- The Potomac Relays will welcome DMV area teams Georgetown, George Mason and Howard in a relay-only format on Sept. 27.
- Following that, the Hoyas will head back to AU on Friday, Oct. 11, for the Eagles' first home dual meet and Pride Celebration.
- Next, the Eagles will bring back Howard on Nov. 1 for their AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) Block Party. Along with that, the team will honor AU alums at the first inaugural "Starting Block Recognition Ceremony" at the start of the meet.
- AU will cap off its home meet schedule with its Senior Day on Friday, Jan 24 against ODU.
Road Meets
- Following the Potomac Relays, AU will head up the Beltway for its first dual meet against UMBC on Oct. 5.
- That won't be the only time this season the Eagles will be up in Baltimore. On Tuesday, Oct. 11, the Eagles will race conference rival Loyola Maryland in a sprint meet format.
- The team will also travel locally this season to crosstown rival Catholic University on Friday, Oct. 18.
- The Patriot Invitational at George Mason will be the first major test to see how the Eagles swim during the championship this season. That meet is set for Nov. 21-23 in Fairfax, Va.
- AU will only travel for one dual meet in the spring semester, heading down to Lexington, Va. against VMI on Saturday, Jan. 18. The men's and women's teams have beaten the Keydets in their last two matchups, and will look to keep that streak alive.
- This year's Toyota US Open Championship will be held in Greensboro, N.C. from Dec. 4-7. Qualifiers for that meet will be determined throughout the semester.
- Along with the dual meet schedule, the Eagles will travel to Lewisburg, Pa. to race at Bucknell three times this season, including the Patriot League Championships.
- AU's first meet against the Bison will be a quad meet on Saturday, Nov. 9, which will include conference rivals Navy and Lafayette. The Eagles' second meet at Bucknell will be the Bucknell Invite on Saturday, Feb. 1, which will be used as a tune-up for the conference championships.
- The culmination for the season will be the Patriot League Championships, Feb. 18-22, which will show how the Eagles stack up against the rest of the conference.
- The team will finish off the season at the ECAC Championships from Feb. 27-Mar. 2.
