Swim & Dive Teams Post 15 Top-10 Finishes at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The American University men's and women's swimming and diving teams posted 15 top-10 finishes at the Navy Invitational on Saturday against participating teams from Navy, Bucknell, Lehigh, Lafayette and Shippensburg. The top finish for AU was a win by senior Mimi Watts in the women's 100 butterfly.

Notable Results
  • In addition to her win, Watts also posted the second-highest finish when she took second in the 100 back in 55.39. Her 100 fly win was in a time of 54.59.
  • Freshman Lian Jeong Engle placed third in the women's 50 free in 24.23, while sophomore Isabel McGovern was ninth in 24.89.
  • Watts, Jeong Engle and McGovern teamed up with sophomore Dylan Moulton for a third-place finish in the women's 200 free relay in 1:35.51.
  • The women's 200 medley relay foursome of Watts, Jeong Engle, junior Amaya Tomma and sophomore Grace Netz took fifth in 1:49.19.
  • Freshman Natalie Webb took sixth in the women's 1,650 free, and Jeong Engle was close to another top-10 finish when she took 11th in the women's 500 free.
  • Sophomore diver Peyton Thurman posted a seventh-place finish on the 3-meter (236.10), and a ninth-place finish on the 1-meter (231.80). 
  • The men's 200 medley relay team of junior Aidan Delehanty and seniors Will Deitch, Carlos Cordero and Nick Buckley took seventh in 1:34.65.
  • Delehanty and Buckley teamed up with freshman Connor Florence and sophomore Colin Clough to take ninth in the men's 200 free relay.
  • Junior Henry Harrison posted the top finish for the men, dropping 3.83 seconds off his 200 breaststroke time to place fourth in 2:18.50. Right behind him was freshman Kyler Alcebar who took fifth in 2:18.61.
  • Junior diver Griffin Batt was ninth on the 3-meter (253.70) and 10th on the 1-meter (223.85).
