EASTON, Pa. - With a sweep of Lafayette, American University volleyball earned its 20th win of the season and its seventh in a row. The Eagles (20-4, 10-2) beat the Leopards 25-16, 25-22 and 25-18 behind 15 kills from freshman Zedo Yilmaz.

Notable

• Yilmaz was the only player to reach double figures in kills for AU in the quick, three-set match, and hit .263.
• Senior Lilou Stegeman, the Patriot League leader in hitting percentage, hit .375 with eight kills while also totaling five blocks.
• Senior setter Esma Sipahi recorded a double-double with a match-high 14 digs to go with 30 assists.
• Three others tallied double-digit digs, with Adelina Berisha getting 13, Bella Marrero 12, and Bridget Javitch 11 along with four service aces.

How It Happened

• It was a slow start for American in the opening set, but a 5-0 run gave the Eagles a 15-10 lead and they never looked back.
• The Eagles posted 13 kills to Lafayette's eight, and used a 4-0 run to close out the set with a 25-16 win.
• The second set was the closest of the three with six ties and five lead changes.
• American was up 17-16 before a 7-2 run gave the Eagles set point. The Leopards fought off four set points, but AU's cushion was enough and Stegeman put down a kill for the 25-22 win.
• With 15 kills to Lafayette's eight in the third set, the Eagles had little trouble in winning 25-18.
• Javitch, who led all players with four aces in the win, served up her last one for the match-winner.

Up Next

• The Eagles will have a quick turnaround before facing league-leading Bucknell on the road at 4 p.m. Saturday.
