Providence, R.I. – The American University field hockey team got the early goal and but were unable to respond when Brown scored two goals to take the lead, falling, 2-1, to the Bears.

How It Happened
For the second game in two days, the scoring was started by Missimer. It was at the 2:34 mark when
Emma Guydish charged into the circle and fed Missimer in front of the goal to put the Eagles up 1-0.
Fifteen minutes later, early in the second period, the Bears equalized with a goal of their own from open play with a give and go at the top of the circle. The match was tied 1-all with three quarters remaining.
After their goal, the Bears went on the offensive. They earned seven corners and took 13 shots in the remainder of the second frame, but
Bryn Underwood made seven saves in the frame to keep it even.
The third period was a similar story to the second, with Brown pressuring the Eagles' back line repeatedly with three more penalty corners and five more shots.
At 51:29, the midway point of the final quarter, Brown took a shot and scored off the rebound from Underwood's initial save, going up 2-1. The Bears would hold on to take the win.
From Associate Head Coach Matula
"Going in to the game today we knew Brown was going to be a tough opponent. While we got off to a strong start with a goal early in the first quarter, Brown was ultimately able to take control for a majority of the game.
"We were able to find our composure and work the ball around in some moments, but ultimately it was too late into the game. A lot of lessons to learn from today as we look on to next weekend against Lehigh and Hofstra."
Coming Up
The Eagles squad returns to Jacobs for their final two home games against Lehigh on Friday (Oct. 25) and Hofstra on Sunday (Oct. 27). The game against Hofstra will be AU's senior day game.
