Webb-Johnson Scores First Career Goal in Final Seconds to Save a Tie at VCU

GLEN ALLEN, Va. – The American University men's soccer team played from behind for all but 20 seconds of the second half, but in his first appearance on the field as an Eagle, sophomore Ian Webb-Johnson scored his first career goal to save a 1-1 tie at VCU in the final seconds of Tuesday night's game.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • American fired early, as graduate student Ethan Boyle had the first shot on goal of the game, but it was saved by VCU in the fourth minute.
  • VCU broke the scoring open in the 37th minute as Andres Rodriguez found the net to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.
  • Boyle's shot was the only shot on target of the first half for American, as VCU led at the break.
  • On the attack in the second half, American was able to put pressure on VCU with several dangerous shots.
  • With just 20 seconds left in the game, Webb-Johnson scored, with the game ending in a 1-1 tie.
