HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountaineers took control early, taking the first shot of the game in the ninth minute, but Tibbetts was there to make the stop.
- Sophomore Troy Elgersma had a chance to put American in the lead in the 19th minute, off a strong shot, but West Virginia's goalkeeper returned the save to keep the game scoreless.
- West Virginia took a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute.
- Hershey evened the score in the 32rd minute, heading the ball through the Mountaineer's defense off a cross from senior Nevin Baer.
- The Mountaineers retook the lead, 2-1, in the 69th minute on a shot to the low left corner of the goal.
- American put pressure on the visitors in the final minutes, looking to equalizer with minutes to play, but could not find the equalizer as the clock hit zero.
