Ethan Boyle and an insurance goal from junior
Miles Lam, that helped American University men's soccer claim the Tuesday night 3-1 victory at UMBC. Boyle's multi-goal game was the second multi-goal game of his career, while Lam's goal was the first of his collegiate career. Four Eagles also recorded assists in the win, with junior
Mustapha Sowe recording two assists of his own.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- American struck first early in the first half, with Boyle finding the back of the net in the 11th minute of action.
- UMBC evened the score in the 35th minute.
- The Retrievers had a good chance to take the lead with under a minute to play in the first half, but their shot hit the right goalpost to keep the game tied heading into halftime.
- It was once again Boyle who found the back of the net for American, in the 49th minute, to give the Eagles the 2-1 lead.
- The home team had another good chance to even the score in the 54th minute, but sophomore goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts made a diving save to keep the Eagles in the lead.
- American added another tally in the 75th minute, this time off a goal from Lam, to give American the 3-1 lead.
- The Retrievers were unable to find the equalizers in the final minutes as the Eagles secured the road win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- UMBC led American in shots, 18-10, while American led in shots on goal, 6-4.
- American had only one corner kick opportunity in the game.
