BETHLEHEM, Pa. – It was the Mountain Hawks' distance shooting that sunk the Eagles when the American University women's basketball team (6-20, 5-10 PL) took on Lehigh (14-12, 10-5) on Saturday afternoon, proving just how they lead the league in scoring.
Kayla Henning had 14 points in the contest, but early foul trouble set the Eagles back.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Henning led for the Eagles with 14 points. She also had three rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
- Following Henning was Lauren Stack with 10 points, five rebounds, two steals, and an assist.
- On the glass, Ivy Bales led for American with seven and freshman Molly Lavin had six.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles grabbed the first points of the game thanks to a jumper from Kayla Henning and then it was off. Bailey Garbee in her first start of the season added a three and Lauren Stack joined in on the fun to give American had a 7-2 lead early in the first frame.
- Thanks to a pair of triples in the period, the Mountain Hawks drew level with 2:02 left in the opening period before they grabbed the lead with another one from Kramer to go ahead 14-17.
- Lehigh led by eight, up 14-20 through one. American was shooting 46% from the floor to Lehigh's 37%, but the Mountain Hawks had three steals and three triples to the Eagle's one to push their lead with.
- In the second, the Mountain Hawks surged ahead thanks to their shooting from distance taking three, leading 33-21 with 4:21 left to play before the halftime break.
- Lehigh had eight triples from beyond the arc, shooting 40% from distance–Jamie Behar and Anna Harvey each with three–and improved their average to 43% from the floor. American was still shooting 43% from the floor.
- At the break, five Eagles had at least two fouls and Stack picked up her third with 5:20 left to play in the first half.
- American put themselves back in it, going 4-7 from the floor in the opening four minutes of the third period to be back within nine of the Mountain Hawks, outscoring them 8-4.
- The two teams finished the third having each scored 14 points, but that meant that Lehigh held a 45-58 lead over American heading into the final period of ten; neither team scored from beyond the arc in the frame.
- At the final media break, the Mountain Hawks held onto their lead, extending it by three in the final frame to lead 45-61 with 4:38 left in the contest. Both teams had yet to make a three in the second half of the game until Mackenzie Kramer knocked one down from distance with 41 seconds left.
- In the end, the Mountain Hawks held control of the game and went on to defeat the Eagles, 49-66 in Stabler Arena.
