ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Lauren Stack put in another shift of impressive work on Wednesday night when the American University women's basketball team (7-20, 6-10 PL) downed the Midshipmen of Navy (1-26, 1-15 PL). The Eagles jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, taking the 61-49 victory, and sweeping the season series over the Mids.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Stack won the tip and Kayla Henning had the first basket, a mid-range jumper, to put the Eagles up on the board first, but it was a slow start for both teams with American leading by a score of 8-3 at the first media timeout, holding Navy to just a single basket.

- The Mids went on a 4-0 run to open the second frame, but with a steal from Henning that gave LeMaster a simple layup, the run was stopped before too much damage could be done.
- The Mids were 0-for-7 from beyond the arc in the second frame after having gone 3-7 in the first, each basket from a different player. American's sole three in the first half came from Anna LeMaster.
- Going into the break, American had the 27-19 advantage, still leading by eight. The Eagles were led by Stack with eight points, going 4-for-6 from the floor and had four rebounds in the first half. As a group, American shot 38% from the floor, but held the Mids to just 30%.
- Coming out of the break, American shot 43% in the opening five minutes of the third frame. Sadie Stetson had five points, going 2-for-2 from the floor to start the second half.
- The American defense held Navy scoreless for 3:34 in the third period, scoring four points of their own. At the end of the third, American led by 10, 42-32 over the Mids. The Eagles shot 43% to Navy's 32% from the floor to pad their lead.
- In the final period, the Eagles soared, shooting 53% from the floor and 2-for-3 from three in the period, one apiece from Stetson and LeMaster.
- Navy pushed the pace in the fourth with their highest scoring period, knocking in 17 points, but the Eagles won the frame, topping them with 19 points to grab the 61-49 overall victory and sweep the season series over Navy.
