FAIRFAX, Va. – After three days of intense competition at George Mason's annual Patriot Invitational, the American University men's and women's swimming & diving teams have wrapped up the meet and are done with team competition until next semester. With three school records and 27 new top 16 times, it was a successful week for the Eagles.

Notable Women's Results

• Sophomore Isabel McGovern placed fourth in the 200 fly with a personal-best time of 2:03.47 which moves her up to fourth on all-time top 16 list. 
• The Eagles had plenty of success in the 200 fly, with sophomore Veronica Lester placing ninth overall in a PR of 2:06.53 which moves her up to ninth all-time.
• Senior Mary Barto, after having a best time on Friday in the 100 butterfly, went her best time again in the 200 fly prelims with a 2:07.99. She placed 14th overall and made the top 16 list in the event at 14th. 
• In the 200 back, junior Amaya Tomma placed 11th in finals with a lifetime best of 2:02.51, tying her for sixth on the top 16 list with alum Lily Koenig. 
• Sophomore Grace Netz won the B-final of the 200 breaststroke, placing ninth overall. She did this with a lifetime-best 2:21.95 which moves her up to sixth all-time at AU. 
• Senior Mimi Watts placed second in the 100 freestyle with a season-best time of 50.07.
• Freshman Kate Williams went a lifetime-best 17:42.91 in the 1,650 freestyle, placing ninth and making her 12th on the AU top 16 list. 
• Overall, the women's team placed fifth of the eight teams in attendance with 376 points.

Notable Men's Results

• The Eagles started off the day with all of their 200 backstrokers making it to finals.
• Freshmen Campbell Hall and Henry Bysshe made it back in the B-final, placing 13th and 14th, respectively. Bysshe was able to get a personal-best time of 1:55.02. 
• All of AU's swimmers in the 200 breaststroke made it back to finals as well. The senior duo of Will Timme and Will Deitch both made it into the B-final. Timme placed 11th and Detich finished 16th overall with a personal-best time of 2:09.22. 
• Seniors Nick Buckley and Caleb Farris, who helped set a new school record on Friday in the 200 medley relay, were able to sneak into the B-final for the 100 freestyle. Buckley placed 15th and Farris placed 16th. 
• Junior Seamus Brown makes his first appearance on the top 16 list in the 200 fly with a 13th-place prelims time of 1:53.38 which places him 12th on the list. Brown also placed 11th in the 1,650 freestyle. 
• Overall, the men's team placed sixth of eight teams with 255 points.

• This ends the first semester of meets for the Eagles. The next team event will be the Senior Day meet at home on Jan. 13 against VMI. AU will also send Mimi Watts to the Toyota U.S. Open Championships from Nov. 29-Dec. 2 in Greensboro, N.C.
