FAIRFAX, Va. - Highlighted by a win from senior Mimi Watts in the women's 50 freestyle with a time that meets the NCAA "B" standard, the American University swim and dive teams had a successful first day at the Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason. The Eagles combined for a total of seven new personal bests that rank among the top 16 all-time in program history.

Notable Women's Results

• Teaming up for the second-best time in program history in the 200 free relay 1:34.42, were freshman Lian Jeong Engle, sophomore Dylan Moulton, sophomore Isabel McGovern and Watts. The result was just four one-hundredths off the school record.
• Watts set an NCAA "B" standard while winning the 50 freestyle in 22.61, bettering her prelims time of 22.70 but coming up a tenth of a second shy of her school record. Watts remains undefeated in individual events so far this season.
• Jeong Engle now holds the fifth spot all-time at American in the 50 free with a PR of 23.74 that earned her 13th overall.
• The Eagles got a top-eight time from McGovern in the 200 IM as she finished 13th overall in a PR of 2:06.64 which ranks eighth all-time at AU.
• Freshman Kate Williams finished with a PR of 5:05.27 to place 11th in the prelims of the 500 free, a time that ranks 16th in program history. In the finals, Williams placed 14th overall.

Notable Men's Results

• The 200 free relay team of sophomore Colin Clough, freshman Lucas Standridge, freshman Henry Bysshe and senior Will Deitch took sixth with a time of 1:22.10 which ranks third all-time in program history.
• Junior Seamus Brown was 11th in the 500 free prelims and 12th in the finals, swimming his top time of the season, 4:36.62, in the prelims. Freshman Lucas Standridge dropped over six seconds off his PR in the 500 free, going 4:36.25 to take 17th overall.
• In the 50 free, senior Nick Buckley placed fourth overall with a time of 20.32, just over a tenth off his own school record. Senior Caleb Farris swam his top time of the season in the 50 free prelims (20.85) and took 16th place in the finals. 
• Junior Aidan Delehanty made his way onto the top 16 list all-time with his finish of 20.97 in the 50 free that ranks in a tie for 10th all-time at AU.
• The men's 400 medley relay team of Bysshe, Deitch, Farris and Buckley went 3:21.43 to take eighth place and rank fifth all-time.
• Junior diver Griffin Batt placed 10th on the men's 1-meter with a score of 241.75.

• The Eagles will be back at the Patriot Invitational for day two on Friday. Contested events will include the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter diving, the 200 medley relay, and the 800 free relay.
