HOW IT HAPPENED
- American took the first shot of the game in the seventh minute, off a shot from sophomore Troy Elgersma, that went high and to the left to keep the game scoreless.
- Army's first shot of the game came in the 17th minute, but the Black Knights' shot was also off target to keep the game 0-0.
- American struck first in the 20th minute, off a goal from Sowe, to give the home team a 1-0 lead.
- The Eagles added to their lead, just a few minutes later, in the 22nd minute to push their lead out to two.
- The home team cemented the win in the 61st minute, off of a goal from Rodriguez, to put the score at 3-0.
- American continued to maintain control of the game throughout the rest of the second half, only allowing Army to take one shot on goal.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Four cards were handed out in the game, all to Army.
- American held the 10-4 shots advantage and the 4-1 shots on goal advantage.
- The Eagles held the 4-3 corner advantage.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Lorenzo Gordon and senior goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts split time in goal on Saturday with Tibbetts earning the start and seeing 81 minutes of action. Gordon came in for nine minutes at the end of the game.
