BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Two members of American University men's basketball were honored with All-Patriot League recognition following the conclusion of the 2021-22 regular season. Senior Stacy Beckton Jr. was named to the All-Patriot League Third Team, while freshman Elijah Stephens was named to the All-Patriot League Rookie Team.

For Beckton Jr., it's his third year in a row earning postseason recognition from the Patriot League head coaches. He was also named to the Third Team in 2019-20, and was named to the All-Defensive Team in both 2019-20 and 2020-21. This season, Beckton Jr. leads the Eagles with 13.4 points per game which ranks 10th in the Patriot League. With 22 points vs. Loyola Maryland on Feb. 26, he moved into a tie for 26th all-time at AU with 1,154 career points. His 99 career blocks rank sixth all-time, and he's tied for 11th with 116 games played. This season, Beckton Jr. has reached double figures in scoring in 22 of 28 games played, and scored a season-high 24 points in a win at William & Mary on Nov. 12.

Stephens has had a tremendous rookie season, leading the Eagles with 70 assists (2.41 per game) and ranking sixth on the team with 6.1 points per game. He recently set or tied career highs with five rebounds and four steals in a win vs. Army on Feb. 19. He drained a career-high three triples, scoring 13 points and adding four assists at Army on Jan. 19. After a New Year's Day performance that saw him score a career-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting in his first career start vs. Lehigh, he was named the Patriot League's Rookie of the Week.

American finished as the No. 10 seed in the Patriot League, and will travel to No. 7 seed Holy Cross for a first round game in the PL Tournament on Tuesday, March 1. The Eagles swept Holy Cross in the regular season.
