WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
  • American (6-17, 2-9 PL) nearly overcame a 15-point deficit in the final six minutes on Wednesday against Bucknell, but the rally came up two points short. AU missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to fall to the Bison, 68-66.
  • The Eagles have lost four straight games and seven of the last eight. With only seven conference games remaining, AU has some work to do to make some ground up in the Patriot League standings.
  • Stacy Beckton Jr. led the Eagles with 18 points on Wednesday. The senior went 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. Beckton is creeping up the all-time scoring list, now sitting at No. 29 with 1,051 career points. Based on his scoring average, he has a chance to move as high as No. 26 by the end of the season. Additionally, he currently has 93 career blocks, which ranks eighth in program history. He is one swat away from moving into seventh place on AU's all-time career blocks list and seven away from being the sixth Eagle with 100 career blocks.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT BOSTON U.
  • Boston U. (17-9, 8-5 PL) has won six of its last seven games, including a thrilling 75-74 victory over Army West Point on Wednesday. Sukhmail Mathon converted on a three-point play with 1.3 seconds left to give the Terriers the win.
  • Walter Whyte hit a career-high five 3-pointers en route to 21 points. With his second 20+ point performance of the season and fourth career, Whyte moved up to No. 22 all-time at BU with 1,148 career points.
  • The Terriers sit in third place in the Patriot League, just behind No. 1 Colgate (9-2 PL) and No. 2 Navy (9-4). The preseason PL favorite, Boston U. last won the conference title in 2020.
