BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman
Geoff Sprouse was named the Patriot League GEICO Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
The award marks the first collegiate honor for Sprouse and the Eagles' first Patriot League weekly honor of the season. He started in both games for American this week averaging 9.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. He went a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe over the two games.
The freshman scored a career-high 15 points on Wednesday helping the Eagles overcome a 16-point first-half deficit in their win over Georgetown. The win marked the first win for the Eagles over the Hoyas since 1982, 40 years ago. He also played a career-high 34 minutes on Wednesday and pulled down a career-high five rebounds.
On Saturday at Saint Francis (PA), Sprouse totaled four points, three rebounds and one assist to help American win its fourth-straight game and go 2-0 for the week.

Jaxon Knotek received a Patriot League Player of the Week honorable mention for his efforts in the Eagles' two games.
The Eagles return home on Tuesday, Nov. 29 for a 7 p.m. game against UAlbany in search of their fifth-straight win.
