WASHINGTON - Two Eagles earned Patriot League Men's Basketball postseason honors Monday, as junior Greg Jones was named to the Third Team All-Patriot League and the Patriot League All-Defensive Team, and freshman Madden Collins earned Third Team All-Patriot League and Patriot League All-Rookie Team recognition.
Jones, who has started 30 of 31 games this season, ranks second on the team with 12.5 points per game while leading AU with 30.3 minutes played per game. He has hauled in 146 rebounds, third-most on the team, and has gotten to the free-throw line 150 times this season—44 more than any other Eagle—shooting 80.7 percent. Jones earned Patriot League All-Defensive Team honors for the second straight season, having also been recognized as a sophomore, and has consistently drawn assignments against the league's top scorers throughout his career.
Collins has been one of the league's most impactful freshmen, leading AU with 13.1 points per game and 38 steals while also pacing the team with 14 blocks. His 407 points this season rank third all-time for points scored by a freshman in program history, behind all-time leading scorer Sa'eed Nelson (447) and Eagle great Andre Ingram (423). Collins has led or tied for the team lead in scoring 10 times and has reached the 20-point mark in six games.
The No. 5 seed Eagles will head to No. 4 seed Boston for a rematch with the Terriers at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament.
