HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles out-hit Lafayette .278 to .029 on their way to a 25-18 first-set victory.
- Lafayette scored three straight points to turn an eight point deficit into three, 23-18, but a Putney kill was followed by a Putney-Fikse block for the win.
- Uzen had eight kills in just the first set alone, and AU put up three blocks compared to none for the Leopards.
- AU dominated in the second set with some of its best hitting of the season. The Eagles hit .476 with 11 kills and only one error, while Lafayette matched its seven kills with seven errors.
- Uzen recorded four more kills in just the opening eight points for AU as the Eagles jumped out to an 8-4 lead.
- An 8-0 run at the midway point gave American a 22-8 advantage. After four Lafayette points, the Eagles ended it with another Uzen kill followed by back-to-back service aces from Peleg for the 25-12 win.
- It was a reversal of fortune for AU in the third set, as errors allowed the Leopards to stay alive. The Eagles were out-hit .150 to .071 in a sloppy set, but were playing catch-up most of the way.
- Down 24-16, American fought off four set points before Lafayette finished it with a kill to win, 25-20.
- The Eagles turned right around to dominate yet again in the fourth set, going up 16-6 and leaving no doubt. Uzen posted an incredible 10 kills to close out the match, including her 29th one for the winning point.
