- Lafayette had the first shot of the game in the fifth minute but Tibbetts was right there to make the save and keep Lafayette off the board early.
- The Leopards' followed up five more shots before American's first shot in the 20th minute from Searchwell.
- Lafayette found the back of the net in 24th minute to take the 1-0 lead.
- The Eagles couldn't counter the Leopards early goal and the score stood at 1-0 in favor of the visitors heading into halftime.
- American had the first shot of the second half with junior Robbie Matei looking to even the score, but his shot was off target.
- Lafayette extended its lead in the 73rd minute, 2-0.
- A Lafayette foul in the box in the 85th minute set up a penalty kick opportunity for the Eagles. Cooper took the kick and put the ball passed the Leopards goalkeeper to cut the lead in half.
