Robbie Matei to earn the Tuesday afternoon nonconference draw.
QUICK NOTABLES
- Matei netted his team-leading third goal of the season.
- Baer's goal was his first of the season and the second of his career.
- Freshman Troy Elgermsa recorded his fourth assist of the season, sending the ball to Baer for the Eagles first goal of the game.
- With Tuesday's tie, the Eagles and Dukes have battled to a tie in their last five meetings. The last time either squad came away with the win was on Sept. 30, 2000 in Washington, D.C. when JMU earned the 1-0 overtime win.
- Freshman Jonah Fogel made his first collegiate start on Tuesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- James Madison had the first shot of the game in the 12th minute, but the shot went wide and out to the right to keep the game scoreless.
- The Dukes followed up their shot with another just a few minutes later but sophomore Dominic Dominguez made the save to keep the Dukes off the board.
- Sophomore Dilane Zouantcha had the first shot for American in the 18th minute but he missed the mark keeping the game 0-0.
- The Dukes found the back of the net first in the 23rd minute off a corner kick to put the visitors up 1-0.
- Baer had the final shot of the half, looking to put in the equalizer, but his shot went over the top sending the game into halftime with JMU in front 1-0.
- American came out in the second half, firing off back-to-back shots still looking for the equalizer.
- Baer found the equalizer in the 66th minute, off an assist from Elgersma.
- James Madison broke the tie in the 77th minute to go up 2-1.
- With a minute left to play, a handball by the Dukes in the box set up a penalty kick for American. Matei took the shot and found the back of the net to even the score and end the game in a 2-2 draw.

- Six yellow cards were handed out in the game, five to James Madison and one to American.
- JMU outshot American 9-8 and 7-5 in shots on goal.
