Men’s Soccer Falls To Holy Cross On Road

WORCESTER, Mass. – After David Coly scored the first goal of the game in just the ninth minute, Holy Cross scored twice in the second half to defeat American University men's soccer on Saturday afternoon.
 
QUICK NOTABLES
  • After not scoring through the first three games of the season, Coly has now scored in three straight games. Through 15 games played at AU, Coly has 10 goals.
  • Mattias Cooper picked up his first assist in an AU uniform on the Eagles' goal.
  • Lorenzo Gordon had two saves between the pipes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • American started out the game with heavy pressure, firing off four shots in the first eight minutes.
  • After Coly had a shot knocked up and over the crossbar in the 8th minute, Cooper headed to the corner for the second time in the game.
  • He hit an in-swinger that went right to Coly's head, who directed it into the net to put AU on top, 1-0.
  • AU's defense looked really solid in the first half, holding the Crusaders to three shot attempts with only one on target.
  • Holy Cross found the equalizer in the 54th minute thanks to Evan Jones' third goal of the season.
  • The Crusaders took a 2-1 lead in the 76th minute with a goal from Ivor Teagle. Jake Williams was credited with his second assist of the game on the play.
