Men's Basketball Drops Battle with Navy; Harris Scores 30

WASHINGTON – Jamir Harris did just about everything he could on the offensive end on Sunday night, but his 30 points weren't enough as Navy's veteran squad emerged on top, 69-60.

QUICK NOTABLES
  • Harris's scoring output is the fourth time in six games this season that he has scored over 20 points. He also went 7-of-11 from long-range.
  • Connor Nelson led all players with a career-high eight rebounds.
  • A passing big man is a crucial part of the Princeton offense and Josh Alexander was up to the task, leading the Eagles with five assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • An early 16-3 run put American on top, 18-11, with 10:56 left in the first half.
  • For the second straight day, Navy used a huge run to take control. Today, it was an 18-0 run in the first half that helped the Mids hold a 35-26 lead at the break.
  • A three-point play by Matt Rogers and a corner 3 from Jamir Harris capped off a 10-2 AU run that cut Navy's lead to four at 47-43 with 11:15 in the game.
  • American wouldn't get any closer than that and Navy stretched the lead to as many as 17 with 1:59 left in the game.
  • A 10-0 run over the next minute gave American some life in crunch time, but the deficit was too large to overcome and Navy came out on top, 69-60.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • AU went 11-of-24 from long-range tonight, the third time this season the Eagles have hit at least 10 triples.
  • Ben Lubarsky went 2-of-3 from deep, his first game with multiple 3-pointers this season.
  • It's the second straight game that American has scored exactly 60 points.
UP NEXT
  • The Eagles are back in action with a mid-week road clash on the docket against Loyola Maryland.
  • Tip-off in Baltimore is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
