WORCESTER, Mass. - The weekend ended on a high note for American University volleyball as the Eagles improved to 10-5 in Patriot League play with a sweep of Holy Cross by scores of 25-9, 25-22 and 25-19. AU has two matches remaining in the regular season and just one conference match.

NOTABLE

• Zeynep Uzen led all players with 16 kills and hit .375 for the match.
• The Eagles were strong on the block and finished with 14, led by five kills from Allie Burke and four from Katie Putney. 
• Carlie Fikse totaled six kills, Ariel Campbell had five and Tyra Areskoug tallied four. All three went error-free for the match.
• Chiara Bosetti led all players with 16 digs and Rachael Bennett added 14. Areskoug posted 26 assists for the Eagles in addition to eight digs and her four kills. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• American raced out to a 12-2 lead in the opening set behind six kills from Uzen, and the Eagles never looked back.
• When the set was over, AU had hit .500 to the Crusaders' -.037 and won the set 25-9.
• The Eagles were down by as many as seven points in the second set before coming back strong to take it, 25-22. Uzen put down her 13th kill of the match for the final point to give AU a 2-0 lead.
• The third set saw AU up just one point at 18-17 before closing out on a 7-2 run and finishing with a Campbell kill. 

NEXT UP

• American has three regular season matches remaining, but just one on the road. The Eagles will head to Holy Cross for a 4 p.m. contest tomorrow, Nov. 6.
