Swim & Dive Posts Nine Top-16 All-Time Performances on Day One of the Patriot Invitational

FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason Patriot Invitational got off to a very start for American University men's and women's swimming and diving, with a number of performances ranking on the program's top 16 lists and one nearly setting a school record.

NOTABLE MEN'S RESULTS
  • Sophomore Nick Buckley recorded the program's second-fastest PR in program history in the 50 freestyle of 20.58, dropping over half a second off his prelims time and placing ninth overall. Sophomore Caleb Farris finished 14th in 21.15, slightly off his season-best time of 21.08 achieved in the prelims.
  • The men's 200 freestyle relay team of Buckley, freshman Aidan Delehanty, sophomore Will Deitch and Farris took sixth place in a time of 1:23.17, ranking as the fourth fastest time in program history.
  • Junior Jonathan Quick placed 12th overall in the 500 freestyle in 4:35.54, dropping 17 seconds off his season best but just short of his own personal best.
  • Freshman Seamus Brown dropped over 20 seconds off his previous best in the 500 freestyle prelims, finishing in 4:37.84 (12th) which ranks as the 16th-fastest personal best in program history. He later took 13th overall in 4:37.89.
  • The night ended with the 400 medley relay team of Delehanty, Deitch, Quick and Farris swimming the program's 13th fastest time of 3:25.82 to place ninth.
NOTABLE WOMEN'S RESULTS
  • The women's 200 freestyle relay team of freshman Marissa Kleckner, sophomore Malak Hassouna, senior Eleanor Felton and sophomore Mimi Watts placed fifth in 1:35.31 which ranks as the third-fastest time in program history.
  • Watts advanced to the "A" final and took sixth individually in the 50 freestyle, an event she holds the school record in. Felton placed 15th and Kleckner took 16th. In the prelims, Kleckner's time of 23.90 was over half a second faster than her best, and ranks seventh all-time for fastest PRs in program history behind Watts and Felton.

  • Junior Kayla Winters placed 14th in the 200 IM in a PR of 2:08.41, shaving over three and a half seconds from her previous best and ranking 15th all-time in program history.
